So the trip begins...

GOindia / a trip to Andhra Pradesh, India / Dec 8th to Jan 5th

Introduction
Just a few days away from the beginning of our GOindia project. In reality the journey has already started, with so many of our good friends giving, to help us reach and equip children and churches in one of the poorest regions of India.

So for those of you who need a bit of background here it is...

[Keith has taken a sabbatical from his ministry in 2006, and together with Rebecca decided to make a life-changing trip, and was clearly guided to India and the work of Pastor George Papaf.]

India is the largest democracy in the world, and the 6th largest country. It is estimated that 400 million people are still below the poverty line. 34.7% of the population live on less than 60p a day and two thirds of children don't have access to adequate sanitation.
The area that we are visiting is called Andhra Pradesh, and it has the highest rate of child proverty in the country and was also one of the areas most devastated by 2004's Tsunami. The situation had barely improved before this year devastating floods hit the coast, wiping out existing relief supplies of food and temporary shelters.
We will be living at an orphanage as well as working at a Leprosy Centre, Feeding project, and speaking to Leaders of remote rural villages on how best to help.

You can help:
• keep dropping back to this weblog, which we will update as much as we can - (internet access permitting!), leave a comment or just say hello, and pray for us, the trip and the people we meet, that God will use us to really impact lives.
Please pray:
• that God will help us to see the needs of people's hearts
• that God would inspire us with words and actions of love
• for safe travel by plane, train and car
• for health and protection against disease & food poisoning
• that we have a great time sharing life with the people of India!

Thank you !

Hey there you two. Just to let you know we've been praying for your planes, trains, and automobiles rides! Check in as soon as you can.
Keep your eyes and hearts open. Wise as serpents, gentle as doves.
Smiling with you,
debbie
