Chennai at last...
09.12.2006
I didnt want to start my blog with a cliche, but it's the only way... nothing but nothing can prepare you for the sights, sounds and smells of Chennai!
We arrived easily (and wearily) and were greeted by George and pastors at the airport. There were flowers everywhere and I have to say it was a little overwhelming - kind of like the Beatles arriving (!) - but of course very friendly.
Made our way to a hotel for some much needed rest.
Next day we had to make a stop at the bank...and this is where it gets interesting...they drive in india like nowhere else. The roads ae packed, as are the streets and how nobody gets hurt I cant believe. Rickshaw rides are as good as any rollercoaster!
Chennai's beach is beautiful too and an oasis away from the busiest place I have ever been.
We made our way to the station to get the overnight train at 5pm. Chennai's station was packed - in fact that is one of the most overwhelming things about the city - just so many people everywhere.
